My question involves civil rights in the State of: ohio
I am a student at a university in Ohio in which a an a member of a sorority. One of my sisters was sexually assaulted earlier this year and developed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder after the fact. The president and sorority advisor have now made the decision to kick her out of the house (where she was suppose to live next year) because she was just "too depressed" and "it would be better for everyone if she didn't live there". This girl is doing fine at the current moment and I feel she needs her sisters more than ever.
(I'm pretty sure the actual reason the president wants her out is because she has personal grievances against her for pointing out mistakes the president had made. Especially since no other member of the sorority who is aware of the situation agrees with the decision.)
However, I know this is against the American with Disabilities Act since they are saying she can not live there since she is mentally ill. But I feel like there must be other laws they are breaking also. The girl was assaulted after an event with the sorority, then the president lied to the girl and said she would handle the report for her (but didn't). The president performed a huge coverup to keep her quiet about the situation so the sorority wouldn't look bad. After the girl complained about how it was handled she is punished by being kicked out of the house. It is a very sketchy situation and I honestly can't believe my friend has dealt with this so well, like it's not a big deal.
So I was wondering, if anyone knew of laws beside ADA that they are breaking, or any actions I could take to help her, or that she could take to regain her spot back in the house. I mean she has already paid for most it.
Thank you!
