I have been administrating health insurance plans for close to 30 years, and I have NEVER seen a plan which would allow a son's girlfriend as an eligible dependent. The chance that your boyfriend's mother's plan will be an exception is about one millionth of one percent. So I really wouldn't count on being covered on her plan.



While you didn't ask this, expecting to live with your boyfriend's family and not having health insurance of your own are both going to be detriments to the emancipation process. As soon as the judge hears that you are planning to live with your boyfriend's family, the chance that your petition will be denied goes up to about 95% or higher. And in the extremely unlikely event that that doesn't do it, your lack of health insurance will go a long way towards closing that 5% gap.
