 Health Insurance Claims I Had Double Coverage and Wants Reimbursement My question involves insurance law for the state of: SC Had an automobile accident driving another person's vehicle. I required emergency room treatment - gave the ER my info for my employee health insurance. they paid almost all charges. Later I received a payment under the vehicle owner's medical coverage. now (former) employer health insurance company is attempting recovery a large portion of their payment. they seem unable to grasp the fact that my automobile insurance policy DID NOT pay me any medical coverage - the vehicle owner's policy paid. Do I owe the (former) employer's health insurance company money?    |

Why do you think that it matters whether your policy or the vehicle owner's policy paid? Either way, the bills were paid twice. In any case, since I have not read your policy, I can't tell if you owe the health insurance company money or not. But it certainly can't be ruled out as a possibility. It's even likely. Are you perhaps under the impression that you get to keep the money from the other vehicle owner? Because that's not the way it works. |
