Health Insurance Claims I Had Double Coverage and Wants Reimbursement

My question involves insurance law for the state of: SC

Had an automobile accident driving another person's vehicle. I required emergency room treatment - gave the ER my info for my employee health insurance. they paid almost all charges.

Later I received a payment under the vehicle owner's medical coverage.

now (former) employer health insurance company is attempting recovery a large portion of their payment.

they seem unable to grasp the fact that my automobile insurance policy DID NOT pay me any medical coverage - the vehicle owner's policy paid.

Do I owe the (former) employer's health insurance company money?

Why do you think that it matters whether your policy or the vehicle owner's policy paid? Either way, the bills were paid twice.

In any case, since I have not read your policy, I can't tell if you owe the health insurance company money or not. But it certainly can't be ruled out as a possibility. It's even likely.

Are you perhaps under the impression that you get to keep the money from the other vehicle owner? Because that's not the way it works.
