I am launching a new business in Florida and was advised by the lawyer who filed my articles of incorporation that I cannot deduct the cost of starting the business as a business expense. He said they had to be taken over a period of time like depreciation. How does that work? If I pay the costs personally can the business reimburse me and deduct those expenses? Some expenses are paid before the business came into existence.
